The first devlog?


Hi everyone, first I'd like to say thank YOU very much for the support!

This is my first game and I'm very happy to get it to the point where it is an actual game on a website you can buy!!

Apologies for the rocky launch, separating the demo and standalone led to a nasty bug that was introduced right before I uploaded the files

What can you expect for the future?

Like I said in the Discord announcement, I want to expand my skills. I am building  game using vanilla HTML/CSS/JavaScript and while its good for getting something up quick, it does cause some long-term growing pains. So I want to get good at TypeScript and perhaps some UI framework to make developing faster and easier to track bugs. I also have other game ideas I'd like to explore on the side.

Specifically for I Want To Be A Hero, here's a general roadmap:

A parallel money sink: I want to add another system that lets you use money more... strategically? The idea for this is a food system, where you have food items that grant you a permanent or temporary buff. They generate on a timer, and are semi-random, and there should be some way to increase their effect or rarity. Bonuses could range from permanent attribute % or training effect OR temporary larger buffs to training or stats, which you could use strategically to get a big prestige. And overall, as a more frequent money sink that you can make choices on how to use.

The Hero League.
I don't have many specific ideas about this other than, it will allow you to play other classes and give gloal bonuses as another prestige layer

Just more content. More areas, more skills, more to do. And perhaps connecting it to an overrall story goal, a grand villain, an alien invasion, a multi-dimensional threat?

That's all I have for now, future updates will be more spread, perhaps weekly, as the current development pace has been very taxing to work with, and often I find myself stuck not on coding, but on generating ideas. Taking more time to thing about things before implementing them, I hope to get things out better balanced from the get go and with less bugs.
